Description

Images of ninety-one of 110 panels from Waltham Abbey Panelled Room (c. 1520s) displayed at Epping Forest District Museum, Essex, before its refurbishment in 2016. The room is on long-term loan from the V&A in London, (museum object number 2011 to Q-1899) with the remaining panels in store.

The file names (e.g. Right, column 3, row 2) refer to the location of the panel as it was mounted at EFDM before 2016. Since then the panels have been redisplayed, and 37 panels have been returned to storage at the V&A. It is not clear that the way the panels were mounted then bears any resemblance to their original configuration.

The images supplement my article in Essex Archaeology and History Journal. The images are all © the author except the 'Spare Panel' photographs, which are © Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
