Abstract

Aging of the vasculature is the leading risk factor for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease [1]. As such, strategies that delay vascular aging could minimize the risk of developing life-threatening vascular complications, enhance healthspan and prolong lifespan. However, such preventative and therapeutic approaches require identification of the pathophysiological changes underlying vascular aging, and the associated molecular mechanisms responsible.
