Nadezhda recounts two fairy tales, namely ‘Keedya’ and ‘the two brothers’. Keedya:Once upon a time there lived an old man called Keedya who rode an old ram infested with lice. Once he found a blade bone, put it into his bag, and went on riding. Soon he saw the yurt of a wealthy man who was cooking something delicious inside. The old man entered the yurt, but was offered nothing to eat. Keedya asked the host whether he could cook his bone inside the pot that was full of the boiling meal. The host told him to go ahead. When the meal was ready, Keedya exclaimed angrily: ‘Your meal has stripped my blade bone of its meat!’ The stingy host had to share the meal with Keedya. On another occasion, Keedya was allowed to spend the night at the yurt of another wealthy family. At night, he secretly slaughtered his old ram and smeared the hosts’ sheep with its blood. In the morning, Keedya scolded his hosts for keeping carnivorous sheep that allegedly ate his old, lousy ram. As a compensation Keedya was offered the entire flock.
