Abstract

Lyalya performs five folk songs popular among the Kumsk Kalmyks, namely Dordzhi-Garya, the Napoleonic War, the girl, Khomutnikov and Tumdan Mu-Khar. Dordzhi-Garya: It is a popular song about a man called Dordzhi-Garya. The Napoleonic War: It is a song composed by the Kalmyks who fought in the Borodino battle near Moscow. The girl: It is a song about a poor young man who is in love with a girl that is married off to a wealthy man. Khomutnikov: This song is about a famous Kalmyk officer called Vasiliy Khomutnikov. Tumdan Mu-Khar: It is a song about a man called Tumdan Mu-Khar, chairman of a collective farm.
