Description

Winter drainage of surface lakes from Sentinel-1 SAR imagery source code. This set of scripts is the code behind the analysis of winter lake drainage events in a study site in West Greenland during the winters of 2014/15, 2015/16 and 2016/17. The Google Earth Engine script produces a time series of mean backscatter for each lake using Landsat 8 for lake delineation and Sentinel-1 for backscatter calculations. The Jupyter notebook takes in the lake time series data output from Google Earth Engine and filters the data to find lakes where a large anomalous sudden and sustained change in mean backscatter has occurred during the winter season. For further information please see the README file and the companion paper (Benedek and Willis, 2021). This record includes a Google Earth Engine script intended to be used in the online code editor. The output of that script is then used as input for the Jupyter notebook included here. Image files are geotiff files and need to be opened in ArcGIS, QGIS, Matlab, Python, or similar software.
