Description

The dataset has information about Heliconius erato demophoon butterflies fed for 14d (young) and 45d (old) on three different diets: sugar only (N); sugar + supplement (C) ; sugar + pollen from flowers (F). These experiments were set up with 8 males and 8 females of similar size (~3 cm of forewing radius) per treatment (diet/age). At the end of the experiment, females were individually assay for fertility: number of laid eggs recorded and the total eggs per females collected for quantification of cyanogenic glucosides (CG) using target-metabolomic (HPLC-MS/MS). Recently ecloded butterflies (0d, unfed) was also collected as a baseline. All butterflies were also weighted and collected for target metabolomics at the end of the experiment.

Software / Usage instructions

.csv, .txt and .R are open source formats .xlsx can be opened in Microsoft Excel or similar software .rar files can be un-zipped using WinZip (free) or similar software. These files contain the raw chemical data (.d folders) sorted according to sample (they were divided into folder and compressed as .rar in order to submit the data to this database) .d folders correspond HPLC-MS/MS result and each folder is a samples. These files need to be opened in in the native software of the manufacture of the analytical machine used for the analyses, Bruker Compass DataAnalysis software available in https://bruker-compassdataanalysis.software.informer.com/ (Free license for 14 days). To open the files, just drag the .d folders to the software window, preferably one at the time.
