This dataset repesents the requests received through the Office of Scholarly Communication (University of Cambridge) http://osc.cam.ac.uk/ Request a Copy service.

A proportion of the items disseminated in the Apollo repository at the University of Cambridge https://www.repository.cam.ac.uk/ have access restrictions, whether due to copyright, author choice (eg for theses) etc. The Request a Copy service allows interested parties to communicate directly with the author or creator of the item and request a copy.

This dataset contains data on such requests made from 20 May 2015 to 31 July 2017.

request_made_date_time: the date and time in ISO format of when the request was received by the Apollo server in GMT (Greenwich Mean Time)

request_made_date: the date in ISO format of when the request was received by the Apollo server in GMT (Greenwich Mean Time)

request_day_of_week: the day of the week corresponding to the request_made_date

request_a_copy_action: the initial action made by staff to service the request. The actions are: 

- Forwarded to author;
- Forwarded to Digital Content Unit;
- Files sent to requestor (when a version of the item has changed status to open availability)
- Directed to published version (on author request)
- Forwarded to other repository (items may be freely available on the repository of another institution; generally results from cross-institution collaboration)
- Not forwarded (Spam) N.B.these have been filtered from the publicly accessible dataset
- Not forwarded (Other)

further_action: OSC staff investigate each request and update the Apollo record if an OA version is available from the publisher.
