There is an unnamed rocky island on the left of 39r, separated by a stretch of open horizon from a second rocky island in the left centre, annotated: "rat Island". A further stretch of open sea separates this from another unnamed distant rocky island; the countour recedes to a line of low jagged distant horizon hills stretching to the right-hand edge of the picture. The annotation to the right of the taller rocky island in the centre right reads: "Gambiers Islands bearing WSW distant 12 miles, Lat. 2 11'.".
