Abstract
Dr Cathy Cantwell and Dr Rob Mayer, of Oxford University, undertook an AHRC-funded research project to study the Bon Phur pa tradition descending from the 12th century figure of Khu tsha zla ‘od. The project ran from May 2007 until December 2011. The Bon monastery of Triten Norbutse in Kathmandu continue this ritual tradition, especially in their elaborate dgu gtor or year-ending ceremonies. Kemi Tsewang was commissioned to photograph and video the rites, held in the last week of the Tibetan year, from the preparations on 9th February 2010, through the main ritual on 10th and 11th February, up to and including the ritual dances and exorcisms on 12th February, 2010.
