Abstract

jats:pWe prove that the standard double bubble is the least-area way to enclose and separate two regions of equal volume in<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" alttext="H3" id="E1">mml:mrowmml:msupmml:miℍ</mml:mi>mml:mn3</mml:mn></mml:msup></mml:mrow></mml:math>, and in<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" alttext="S3" id="E2">mml:mrowmml:msupmml:miS</mml:mi>mml:mn3</mml:mn></mml:msup></mml:mrow></mml:math>when the exterior is at least ten percent of<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" alttext="S3" id="E3">mml:mrowmml:msupmml:miS</mml:mi>mml:mn3</mml:mn></mml:msup></mml:mrow></mml:math>.</jats:p>
