dc.description.abstractTo introduce pits into a cell wall, plants depolymerize cortical microtubules, which prevents subsequent secondary cell wall thickening. A newly identified protein tethers microtubules to the plasma membrane and contains this breakdown to defined regions, thereby shaping these holes.
