Abstract
Sergei says that the Kalmyks of his generation were not taught about religion when they were young. He talks about his understanding of religion. When we were children nobody taught us about religion. (Today) we do not know our religion well. I worry about this situation. I pray as I can and according to what I know. If you believe, you need to keep yourself pure. It is forbidden to swear, drink alcohol, or smoke. (In Kalmykia) we go to Tibetan lamas. But they do not know our language (they communicate with us through translators). How are they supposed to know what I suffer from? There is also a question whether the translators do a good job. I saw how to pray correctly. You take off your hat, rinse your hands, clean your teeth, and after that you can pray.
