dc.description.abstract | Alexei reminisces about how farmers grew cotton in Kalmykia. In his kolkhoz, called ‘Revolyutsionnyi Trud’ (Revolutionary Labor), the farmers planted mainly cotton. First, cotton seeds were planted, watered, and when the cotton grew its leaves were trimmed. The farmers collected cotton on 1 September. Having put on aprons with pockets, they collected cotton by hand. | |
