Abstract

Olzyata talks about how people celebrated Tsagan Sar. This is what she says: Tsagan Sar is the day of the goddesses Okn Tengri and Green Tara. It is a difficult holiday, because Green Tara sacrificed her baby to save humanity. In the past, people prepared for this holiday in advance. They tidied up their homes and made biscuits. Okn Tengri was offered tea libations. Offerings to other gods included a sheep’s head, meat, 2 ribs, and biscuits (tselvg and zhola varieties). Women ate togsh and zhola biscuits. On this holiday people received presents from each other. People gave their daughters’ children sheep’s legs.
