Abstract
This paper places communal identities in the context of representative politics in India’s plural democracy. It seeks to understand how social groups become politicised entities and what the implications are for
democracy. It also attempts to move beyond the conception of community-based identity to encompass the multiplicity of identities that emerged in the past few decades and began to alter political agendas.

Although the pilot has been fruitful for both parties, the service provider IKVA is focusing on horizon scanning products and so the recommender service can no longer be supported. We recognise the importance of recommender services in supporting research discovery and are evaluating offerings from other service providers.
