We congratulate Daniel F Hanley and the MISTIE III investigators1 for completing their phase 3 randomised controlled trial that assessed the effectiveness of a novel, minimally invasive surgical intervention for intracerebral haemorrhage. Surgical learning curves are important, especially in the case of novel interventions.
