Abstract

Dzhidzha says that children should not go out after sunset. It is also forbidden to cross one’s hands. Women and girls should not cross their hands behind their back, for this movement is believed to undermine men’s power and authority. People should not call their paternal relatives by their name. People also should host their relatives well. Dzhidzha recalls that when her family lived in a nomadic tent, they washed their face with water from a bucket and bathed rarely. Married women wore shivrlg on their hair, while girls gathered their hair in a braid (kyukyul’).
