Description

Two .zip files containing mean flow and turbulent quantities resulting from simultaneous two-dimensional velocity and buoyancy experimental measurements of a free plume and a wall plume along a vertical central plane normal to the plume line source. The velocity measurements were obtained using particle image velocimetry (PIV) and the buoyancy measurements were obtained using planar laser induced fluorescence (PLIF). The data are given in .mat files and include the time-averaged vertical and horizontal velocities and time-averaged buoyancy for five experiments for each plume in an Eulerian frame of reference as well as a plume coordinate system. The time-averages were performed using 12,000 individual velocity/buoyancy fields for each experiment at a temporal resolution of 100 Hz. Also given are the velocity and buoyancy fluctuations, the Reynolds stress's and the turbulent buoyancy fluxes. The quantities in each experiment file are presented using the same coordinate grid which is given in each file. See readme.pdf for a description of the flow quantities presented, their units and their corresponding names in the .mat files.
