Abstract

I am a twin. My twin brother and mother died during the birth. I grew up with my two older brothers. After being released from prison, my paternal uncle, Maral bagshi, took me for adoption. He died when I was in grade 10 in secondary school. I have two sons and a daughter. My youngest son died in the army. I have grandchildren. I worked for 41 years as a librarian, before my retirement. During repressions, one monk, who was arrested, gave a statue of Buddha to the Russian man who was transporting him. That was the Buddha which belonged to the Baga-Chonos aimak. The Russian man kept the statue and later returned it to Kalmyks. The Head Lama of Kalmykia was present at the ceremony where the statues was returned. I think that statue is today kept at the Central Temple in Elista.
