dc.description.abstractMadawi Al-Rasheed is currently a Visiting Professor at the Middle East Centre of London School of Economics. Until 2013 she was Professor of Anthropology of Religion at King’s Col-lege London. Throughout her career, she has held several positions in a number of institutions, including the Middle East Institute at the National University in Singapore and the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology at Oxford. She has published extensively on Saudi history, state–civil society relations, gender issues, Arab migration, minorities in the Middle East and transnational Islam. In addition to her academic publications, her articles have appeared in For-eign Affairs, Middle East Eye, The Guardian, New York Times, Washington Post and the London Review of Books.
