Abstract
Our Climate Migration Myths comment critiques self-perpetuating claims on mass climate migration that reinforce the securitization of this field. We instead proposed a research agenda on climate mobilities that “prioritizes exploration, rather than minimization, of the complexity of the connections between human mobility and climate change”. It actively incorporates the use of decolonial, indigenous and indeed all local knowledge systems, and covers a wider range of human mobilities than the term migration can capture.
