1 xlsx workbook containing 7 spreadsheets with calculations and graphs. The contents of each spreadsheet are as follows: "Soil model" tabulates one-dimensional swelling data from the experiment and fits the non-linear volume-pressure model of the clay, for use in subsequent sheets; "Steinbrenner" calculates and plots the predictions of heave-pressure relationship for the clay layer, using Steinbrenner's method; "DYC-04-T3f" tabulates finite element (FE) simulation data for the flexible basement model (DYC-04) using the small-strain hardening (HSS) constitutive model with parameter set T3f; "DYC-05-T3f" tabulates FE data for the stiff basement model (DYC-05) using HSS with parameter set T3f; "Heave vs stress" plots heave displacement against under-slab stress according to the relaxation ratio method, identical to Figure 5 of the associated paper; "Pressure vs position data" compares FE and experimental data for the long-term equilibrium of each basement model; "Pressure vs position (Fig 6)" plots both FE and experimental data for under-slab pressure against position on slab, identical to Figure 6 of the associated paper.
Spreadsheets were created in Microsoft Excel 2016. Some of the underlying data were generated using Plaxis 2D 2017-01 (computational simulations) and DasyLab (physical modelling)
