Mattock, H., Ryan, R., O'Farrelly, C., Babalis, D., & Ramchandani, P. (2019). Does a video clip enhance recruitment into a parenting trial? Evidence from a study within a trial (SWAT). Trials, 20 https://doi.org/10.1186/s13063-020-04779-0
Background: RCTs face issues with poor/slow recruitment needing extensions and extra funding. A Study within a trial (SWAT) is an embedded study that evaluates and tests ways of delivering trials to improve trial delivery. Participant Information Sheets may not be optimal for informing potential participants of trial demands. Effectiveness of alternative formats (e.g video clips) should be investigated. Aim: To evaluate the effectiveness of an information video clip in comparison to a standard participant information sheet on the rate of recruitment.
