Abstract

jats:pAn intramolecular H-bond between a pyridine and an amide NH group increases the H-bond acceptor strength of the amide carbonyl oxygen. Polarisation of the amide group is directly proportional to the polarity of the pyridine H-bond acceptor.</jats:p>
