High speed camera video recording (.mp4 file) showing filament behaviour during extrusion without external fan. The video was filmed with a Chronos 1.4 high-speed camera from Kron Technologies which was positioned at a 30 mm focal distance from the subject. The optical axis was carefully positioned parallel to the nozzle. An aspect ratio of 1280 x 1024, frame rate of 1069 FPS, with an exposure time of 545 μs were used.

The video recording shows how the filament behaves as it is extruded without the Anet A8 machine's external fan. Recording was in the Y plane with a static nozzle.

The extrusion parameters are shown below.

PLA material, extrusion rate 5 mm/s, and extruder temperature 200 deg.


Software / Usage instructions

The video was recorded using the Chronos 1.4 high speed camera. The video was saved on the camera's SD card and subsequently exported as a .mp4 file. It was then edited using Windows FilmForth – Video Editor & Movie Maker.
