Abstract
Petr says the following: In the past Kalmyks lived in nomadic encampments called khoton each of which consisted of about 50 families. People lived in felt yurts. Nomads often changed pastureland in search of fresh grass. People lived freely. Although they were illiterate, all knew folklore well.
