Abstract
Rimma recounts prohibitions that she learnt when she was a child and talks about how to deal with evil spirits:We learnt various prohibitions in childhood. They include the following: do not cross your hands, do not hold your hands behind the back, do not hug your knees, do not sit with one leg on top of the other. ‘If you do not follow these prohibitions, your parents may suffer as a result’, we were told. If you come across an evil spirit, point the handle of a knife or a gun towards the evil. Then the evil will leave you in peace.
