Maria Beltsikova, A story about a horse thief

Abstract

Maria relays a story that happened to her family when they lived in a place called Nyukyun near the village of Chilgir. One day they had their horse stolen, which made Maria’s mother cry. The next day, however, the stolen horse was returned to the family. It turned out that the thief had his leg broken, and thinking that Maria’s mother had powerful spiritual patrons decided to return the horse before things became even worse.
