Description

200 x 140 mm. A view looking down on part of the Bridgetown dock area with a sailing ship moored near the Chamberlain Bridge. Larger steam vessels can be seen at anchor offshore in the deep-water harbour. The bridge was presumably named out of gratitude for Joseph Chamberlain's successful fight to abolish the bounty system which encouraged European beet production at the expense of imported West Indian sugar. Pencilled note on reverse reads circa 1910.
