Abstract
Khöndelen School was founded in 1958 in Hovogin Gol. The subsequent year, due to the consolidation of the Altan Gerel and Towach communes for agricultural purposes, the school was relocated to Khöndelen village. Initially, the school comprised four classrooms and four teachers, led by Basang. Over time, student enrolment exceeded 1,000 with a teaching staff of 40. Khöndelen School was renowned for its educational excellence in Hobogsair until the introduction of bilingual education in the 1990s. The implementation of bilingual education was one of the reasons for the decline in student numbers, particularly with the introduction of Chinese-language instruction in natural science subjects. Another reason can be attributed to the enforcement of China’s birth control policy in the 1980s, which led Mongolian families to have fewer children compared to previous generations. I have dedicated over thirty years to the field of education at Khöndelen School and later at Hoshtolgoi. After graduating from Xinjiang Mongolian Normal College, I assumed a leadership role at Khöndelen School in 2007. However, in the same year, Khöndelen School was amalgamated with other schools in Hoshtolgoi town, and teachers from Khöndelen School, including myself and 18 others, were reassigned to the catering department.
