PrePARe teaching modules in digital preservation
The JISC-funded PrePARe project aimed to encourage researchers to take an interest and responsibility in digital preservation of their research outputs. Training materials in digital preservation have been designed to slot into existing training courses on related areas, such as Information Literacy and reference management. Five short modules provide an introduction to why digital preservation matters, and cover the issues of safe storage of digital materials, documentation and metadata, data sharing and re-use and data management planning, to think about these issues early in the research process. The resources consist of a series of slides for each module, and a guide on how the resources can be used, including suggested discussion questions and script for use with the slides.
