Abstract
Through desk research and literature review, this paper looks at the current agriculture technology landscape in Thailand to understand the gaps in technology adoption and to identify the potential focus areas for further research. We find that Thailand’s smallholder farmers, predominantly low-value crop farmers, have little incentive and ability to invest in technology due to the low economies of scale in their small farms and their part-time basis. Additionally, we find that they suffer from loss aversion bias in undergoing farm operational changes as their financial standing does not allow them to risk losing any income.
