Abstract
We experimentally demonstrate 200 Gb/s/λ up- stream coherent passive optical network (PON) using polarization division multiplexed (PDM) pulse amplitude modulation 4-level (PAM4) signal with coherent detection. The 50 GBaud PDM-PAM4 is generated using a low cost C-band electroabsorption modulated laser (EML), polarization-division multiplexing (PDM) emulator and semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA). A power budget of 29.4 dB is achieved for 25 km single mode fiber (SMF) transmission using a class-40 integrated coherent receiver (ICR) at the optical line terminal (OLT).
