Written Evidence: UK Government Consultation on Copyright and Artificial Intelligence

Abstract

On 17 December 2024, the Intellectual Property Office, the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport jointly launched a consultation on Copyright and Artificial Intelligence (the Consultation). The Consultation closed on 25 February 2025. This consultation response from the Minderoo Centre for Technology and Democracy compliments our recent policy report: AI, Copyright, and Productivity in the Creative Industries, published on 20 February and available on our website mctd.ac.uk. Our response is also informed by a policy workshop we held on 20 February with more than 20 stakeholders from the creative industries and academics.
