Abstract

In this video, Purvee shares his journey as a predictor, delving into the deeds of finding lost livestock for herders across the region. Hailing from the Tarinch Ulaan family, Purvee inherited the legacy through his ancestry. With 41 small stones passed down through generations, he unveils the secrets of the future with precision and insight. An intriguing aspect of Purvee’s lineage is that his family never ventured to the Volga region with the main Torghuts but remained rooted in Hobogsair. He shares the story of his ancestors of seven lamas, where four lamas journeyed to Khalha, while three remained in the monasteries of Hobogsair. Notably, his grandmother, Dobchin Emgen, was a revered shaman, and Purvee’s umbilical cord was cut by Högein Emgen, another prominent predictor of Hobogsair. Thus, embracing his family’s legacy, Purvee dedicates himself to assisting others in finding lost livestock. Purvee’s knowledge extends beyond prediction, as he offers healing spells for ailments like tooth pain and wounds, albeit without the traditional practice of licking hot iron. However, he acknowledges that treating people with spells leaves him sick and unable to sleep if not performed correctly.
