Abstract
This video showcases how veterinarians and Torghut herders in Bayangol identify each lamb and ewe through weighing, tagging, and branding. In recent years, many Torghut herders have mixed various breeds of sheep to achieve financial profits. However, this trend has shown that improved breeds are unable to survive the cold winters on the Bayanbulag grassland, unlike the resilient Torghut sheep, and it has contaminated their gene pool. Therefore, the practices of identifying and branding help avoid mixing Torghut sheep with other breeds, preserving their unique genetic traits and ensuring their survival in harsh conditions.
