Abstract

The lake Tsagan Nur (lit. White Lake) is also locally referred to as Bain Nur (lit. Wealthy Lake). The lake provides the people in the vicinity with everything from fish to cane. Cane is used as fodder and fuel. According to a local belief, breastfeeding mothers who do not have milk bath in the lake to fill their breasts with milk. Tsagan Nur is not only a wealth giving lake but it is also a sacred one.
