The article discusses the British public controversy regarding the imperial project of the city of English Tangier in Morocco. Topics include the relation of English Tangier to the Restoration of the English Stuart monarchy under King Charles II, the British political conflict between Roman Catholicism and Protestantism, and the relation of the imperial venture to the Exclusion Crisis and debate between Whigs and Tories.
