The Family History of Beis Noyan in Khar Us

Change log

Abstract

The Torghuts in Khar Us were organised into seven Sums, four of which belonged to Wang Noyan, while the remaining three were under Beis Noyan. This interview presents the family history of Beis Noyan in Khar Us. The discussion encompasses various historical events and locations, such as the Uraanhai group of Altai, the Kharchin people of Inner Mongolia, and the Torghut noble family in Khar Us. According to Yanjarai’s account, Beis Noyan was unable to have children despite marrying several individuals from different regions, including Öölds from Tarbagatai and Torghuts from Kharshaar. Consequently, Beis Noyan adopted a girl, Altantsetseg, from a Kharchin family originating from Inner Mongolia. After reaching adulthood, Altantsetseg married a Uraanhai in the Altai region, but divorced and returned home three years later. Yanjarai was born after Altantsetseg returned home.
