Abstract
This article considers a series of studies in the field of digital art history, dealing with the quantification of artistic perception: on the one hand, gaze tracking, and on the other hand, computational image analysis. In parallel to their use in art history, eye movements recording and computer vision have been appropriated by artistic practices. We will show that the digital arts offer a vantage point from which to consider the methodological and philosophical challenges that emerge with the application of quantitative methods to the history of art.
