IHRA Recommendations for Archaeologists and Buildings Conservation Practitioners

Abstract

This document supplements the IHRA Charter for Safeguarding Sitesii. It aims to provide practical guidance to archaeologists and building conservation practitioners preparing to work with sites related to the Holocaust, the genocide of the Roma, and crimes of the Nazis and their collaborators.iii It is anticipated that it will also be useful to those working with other sites of trauma and genocide. This document comprises guidance on preparatory steps and process, followed by seven sections which address distinctive features of Holocaust heritage sites.
