Description
Datasets relating to freshwater mussels Unio pictorum collected from Must Farm archaeological site, contexts [3221] (MF1) and [363] (MF2) and the present-day River Nene (RN) and King's Dyke (KD). Mussels were measured using calipers to record length, width, height and length of each annual ring. For a subset of mussels, stable isotope samples in a sequence from umbo to ventral margin were also taken for d18O and d13C analysis.
Version
Software / Usage instructions
The following datasets are included:
mussel_lengths.csv: Lengths of mussels collected, with species (up = Unio pictorum, ut = Unio tumidus, aa = Anodonta anatina, ac = Anodonta cygnea) and number of fouling zebra mussels (present-day samples only).
ring_lengths.csv: Length, width, height and lengths of each annual ring for mussels collected.
isotope_data.csv: d18O and d13C isotopic ratios for a subset of sampled mussels. Sample ID takes the form [shell id]_[sample number] with a set of samples taken sequentially from each shell.
water_quality: Water quality data extracted from the Environment Agency Water Quality Monitoring Archive for King's Dyke and River Nene sites.
