Abstract
Altan Oboo is one of the first two mountain deities worshipped by the Torghuts when they settled in Hobogsair after migrating eastward from the Volga region in 1771. The other deity, Tsagan Oboo, is in a territory seized by Tsarist Russians and never returned to the Torghuts. Consequently, Altan Oboo became the primary site of worship, revered for its location on the highest mountain in Hobogsair, and has been a significant spiritual site since 1771.
