Abstract

This interview delves into the history of education in Khar Us. According to Urtnasan, the initial phase of education after the establishment of the PRC in 1949 expanded from Tarbagatai and Hobogsair. In 1981, Urtnasan, one of two students from Khar Us, graduated from the teachers’ training centre in Hobogsair. Among the 46 students in his cohort, 12 were from Dörböljin County, 6 from the Altai region, and 27 were local. Despite studying in Hobogsair, their teachers were all from Dörböljin County. After graduation, they became early educators in their respective areas along with other Mongolian teachers. Unfortunately, these teachers are now either retired or reassigned to the catering centre as the original schools have been merged into Chinese schools, prioritising monolingual education.
