Dordzhi Nandyshev, About amnya dolig

Change log

Abstract

Dordzhi says that married women (who marry to other clans) are considered to be ‘dead’ by their paternal relatives. During a wedding, the groom brings a sacrificial sheep to the bride’s family. This sheep is either used for the ritual of amnya dolig (known by Kalmyks as a ‘fire ritual’) or donated to the temple.
