Abstract
Between November 1992 and February 1993, a 125mm water mains pipe was installed beneath the existing roads of Ermine Street (A14) and Green End (minor road) at Great Stukeley, Huntingdon, Cambs for the Anglian Water Services Ltd (TL 2212/7445 - 2234/7424 - 2256/7454). Given the high archaeological status of Ermine Street (a Roman road), the County Archaeology Office had advised that a monitoring brief be conducted during the groundworks so that in the event of any archaeological remains being encountered they could be rapidly recorded in advance of the pipe laying.
