Abstract
Excavations at Burrell’s Field, on the northwestern side of Cambridge, produced evidence of prehistoric and Roman settlement located on the First Terrace gravels of the confluence of the River Cam and Bin Brook. Also identified was the utilization of the floodplain meadows from Roman–Medieval periods. Although the important Anglo-Saxon cemetery of St John’s College Playing Fields was located c.300m to the north, no contemporary remains were encountered.
