Archaeological Investigations in Newnham House Courtyard, Cambridge 1991

Change log

Abstract

Archaeological excavations were undertaken in the courtyard of Newnham House, Newnham Road, Cambridge, in advance of an extensive redevelopment programme for the courtyard. Nineteenth century services and wall foundations were reveled, all of which were contemporary with the construction of Newnham House and its successive phases of extension. Despite the presence of two Medieval pits, the medieval agricultural land and housing associated with a 14th century manor close by, was severely truncated and very little information was gained relating to that period.
