Abstract
jats:pWe present two techniques that exploit the limitations of the visual system to reduce the bandwidth or computational cost of driving high‐resolution and high‐refresh‐rate displays. The first technique lets us render every second frame at half the resolution when presented on high‐refresh‐rate displays. The second technique lets us choose the best trade‐off between spatial resolution and refresh rate given the velocity of the presented motion. In this paper we summarize both techniques and analyze their performance in the context of psychophysical models of motion.
