Abstract
The distinctive Irish approach to adoption, and the largely “closed” nature of the adoption process, have been discussed in previous contributions to FamRZ. This article focuses on two interconnected developments on adoption that occurred in 2021: the publication of both the Final Report of the Commission of Investigation into Mother and Baby Homes, and the Draft Heads and General Scheme of a Birth Information and Tracing Bill, aiming to benefit adopted persons and others who have questions relating to their origins. It then considers some other current issues in Irish Family Law.
